TESTIMONIALS

Winter Wonderland.jpg

We had a large “golfing group” of middle-aged men and the home was perfect for us. Plenty of parking. Home is only a short drive to downtown Ludlow. Peg was great to deal with even though there was a historic flood in Ludlow just a month earlier. Guys enjoyed the yard and the barn for games. On what’s considered a main road in VT but it was still very peaceful. I would recommend the home and the hosts to family and friends. Thanks again Peg!!""

""Peg's place is just lovely. An old 19th century house that's been well equipped with modern amenities, it houses a virtual army of humans in reasonable comfort. Peg was delightful to communicate with, extremely responsive, and kind. I would definitely stay at the 1828 House again."
 Jeff, Massachusetts, July 2023

"My family and I rented this place for a weekend away to Ski at Okemo. We had so much fun on and off the mountain and the home played a big role. We had so much space for 14 people and the house had everything we needed. It was so cozy and we all truly felt relaxed. We would love to stay again if we head that way! Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home !"

"Thank you for making your home available to our family. We were able to all stay together and enjoy family time. We had so much fun playing at the river, browsing the antique shops, and boutiques, and just sitting on the front porch. We took the lift up Okemo and visited a nearby small town for the 4th of July celebrations! Great place to relax and just be together. Great hosts and excellent communication. Thanks again."

"A great house for a large family with a table big enough for everyone to enjoy meals together. The two kitchens are great for families that like to cook together, the large living room provides lots of opportunities for everyone to gather together, and with a large number of bedrooms, everyone can have their own private space!

Theresa, Connecticut, July  2022

Linda, New Hampshire, November 2022

"The 1828 Reunion House was a perfect place for 25 friends, relatives, and family for a 70th birthday party! It was cozy yet complete in its amenities: The adults hung out in the large living area and the fireplace brought a warm ambiance for the cool March weekend. Meanwhile, the kids had a small living area to set up their video games. Peg was extremely responsive and helpful. She answered all of our questions promptly. In terms of accommodating that size group for a meal, it was perfect—two kitchens adjoined by a passthrough window. Large tables—we used one for the bar/appetizers and the other for dinner. There was more than enough dinnerware, cookware, utensils, coffee urns—everything we needed and more. Our immediate family and a couple of friends stayed at the house, and the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly—the space was very well planned to maximize the possibility for sweet dreams for all. The young kids loved the outdoors, the woods, and the playhouse, and all the families enjoyed the barn with the ping-pong table and foosball. “Reunion House” is a very good name because it is a perfect house for a large family party, college friends reunion, or shared family Vermont vacation. We highly recommend."

James, Vermont, April 2022

"Perfectly located ski house, minutes from Okemo! Had plenty of space to accommodate our big family! It was very comfortable and we loved the huge farm table for our dinners and super cozy fireplace.

Reese, New York, March 2022

"This house is perfect for a large group of people, especially with kids. The house is large enough for them to play in a separate part of the house while the adults decompress at the end of the day. We loved the great big dining table for dinners and the hill in the back of the house for sledding. Everything about this house was perfect for us. We had such a wonderful trip and can't wait to go back!

Sage, New Jersey, February 2022

"The most fantastic place to make memories, with everyone you love! Thank you so much, Peg and Matt!

Jacque, Vermont, November 2021

"We had a really nice stay. The house is very spacious. The fireplace is amazing, the very large dining table could hold us all. It’s an old house with all its charms. It really felt like home. Peg and Matthew were great and responsive to our questions. We would really recommend a stay there and would love to come back."

Cecile, Paris, France, January 2022

"The Vermont 1828 House is the perfect setting for a large group. A wonderful dining room accommodated all of us each night for meals. 2 refrigerators allowed for plenty of storage. Supplies for cooking were very good and the atmosphere could not be beaten. We could all collect in the living area with the fire roaring or split up and felt space and calm. The beds were comfortable and plenty of showers for all. All aspects of the home were welcoming and perfect for our 4 family ski gathering. Definitely a place we would all return to."

Randa, New York, December 2021

"Highly recommend the 1828 Reunion house. Our extended family spent Thanksgiving there and found it very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed."

Lori, New York, November 2021

"The reunion house was so cute! It was perfect for our large family visiting our cousin who plays soccer at Dartmouth (it was about 40 min from campus). There is a beautiful street right outside that Peg suggested we walk along, which was great in the fall, and it was super close to a bunch of great hikes - we made butternut hill loop (highly recommend in the fall!). The house has much character and was very pleasant."

Holly, New York, October 2021

"This house is so perfect! We hosted friends and family for 2 days before our wedding an hour north in Vermont. There is so much room and so many places to sit and hang out in this house. The double kitchens were great and the epic dining room table was the best part. Peg and Matthew answered all my questions and keep the house so well. Everyone loved this house and we had a great time. We would love to stay again in the future."

Michelle, New Hampshire, September, 2021

"The 1828 House was a great house for our family reunion. It was spacious with plenty of sleeping accommodations. The 2 kitchens were great to spread out for meal prep, and the large dining room table was great for family mealtime. The barn was a haven for the older teens to get away for ping pong and foosball. The location is great for multiple activities, and the river nearby was a great spot to cool off and let the kids explore for tadpoles and critters in the pools. time staying here this winter, and absolutely love it. A spacious place that can fit many people and absolutely worth every penny."

Sue, New Hampshire, August 2021

"Definitely recommend for your next gathering!"

Erik, Philadelphia, August 2021

"The 1828 Reunion house is a perfect place to gather with friends and family. There is an abundance of space both within the house and outside. The kids love playing by the river, toasting s'mores at night by the designated fire pit, and walking the trails. The house has two kitchens, which is perfect when cooking for large groups and for those who just love to cook with friends and family. The large dining table allowed us all to gather for meals. This house is a truly special place for us. We started coming in 2011. We skipped a few years, but we were all so happy to return this summer. Peg and Matthew are great with communication. My questions were answered immediately and check-in was seamless."

Nina, New York City,  August 2019

"This home was charming and most welcoming. We had rented it so the entire extended family of 21 could be together for the 5th sons wedding weekend in Bellows falls. The kitchen was well equipped and we could manage large meals without any needs. The long table that seats 10+ was the central point for the gathering. The wide variety of bedrooms fitted every member's needs and they were well stocked with linens. The home also has a variety of sitting areas so we weren’t all stuck in one room, but we were under one roof which is special. The 8 grandkids loved the stream that was on the property, and even the adults found it a great cooling spot. If you are searching for a homey place for a gathering I would highly recommend it."

Kathy, New Hampshire  August 2019

"Great experience - tons of space which worked well for all of our guests. The two kitchens were helpful and the dining table fit all 16 of us. The river is lovely and so close. Peg was extremely accommodating and quick to reply.

It has plenty of beds to sleep all of us (17 people) comfortably with beds leftover. The large communal dining room is perfect for group meals with everyone able to fit around the table. The barn was a great place for late-night games. Check-in/check-out was super easy, the house was very clean, and Peg & Matthew were

super responsive. All around great time. Looking forward to next summer here!"

"Second time staying here this winter, and absolutely love it. A spacious place that can fit many people and absolutely worth every penny."

Carissa, New York,  March 2021

We really enjoyed staying at the Reunion House during ski vacation at Okemo. It held three families, 12 people, with plenty of room to spare. The WiFi held up to the remote work and streaming classes, the temperature was comfortable. It was great to have a lot of bunk beds for the kids to have a sleepover when adults could talk at the different parts of the house. The house had everything we needed and nothing we did not. Hope to come back soon!

Sharon, New York City  March 2021

"This place has everything you need when traveling for a typical trip in Vermont! Super close to Okemo, more than enough space for larger groups, and has a stylish and cozy feel! Very satisfied with the trip!"

Sasha, Connecticut, February 2021

"My friends and I had a great weekend at the 1828 Reunion House. It was the perfect setup for our large group. There was plenty of space for everyone, copious amounts of plates, bowls, utensils, etc and a huge dining room for us to all eat together. We really enjoyed the barn with foosball and ping pong and the seating and the beds were very comfortable. We were able to spread out and enjoy catching up with each other. We all commented that we’d be looking into booking again in the winter as a great spot to visit Okemo and other surrounding ski areas."

“Wonderful place for a get together! Plenty of space to have a big family dinner but also enough room to branch out into separate groups. Nice backyard space and lovely river only a minute walk from the back door. The barn is great for games as well :) short drive into Ludlow for groceries or last minute shopping. We would definitely stay again."
McKenna,  Vermont,  August 2018

“"The Farmhouse offered us lots of bedrooms to accommodate our specific configuration of couples and singles, a great dining arrangement that could handle us all sitting down and eating together, two kitchens with a pass-through in between so we could spread out the food we had brought, a number of hangout areas so people could space themselves around as desired. We made use of the foosball and ping pong in the barn, and it was great to have the yard as well. It was convenient to have a stove with lots of big burners. The quirky charm of this old building rounded out a most special stay for our family gathering on a special occasion!"
Judy, New Hampshire, June 2018

“Peg was very nice, she made sure that we had everything and didn’t need anything. The house is located in a prime location with several amazing amenities. The area around the house is very nice with a pathway to the waterfront. The house was very clean and is equipped with new towels and bedding."

“We had a great time at the reunion house. The house was huge and accommodated our party easily. It is also within a 5-minute drive to Okemo which is just an ideal location. The house is rustic which gives it that VT charm. Would head back no doubt. Thanks, Peg and Matthew! "

“Lovely, large, comfortable house in a great location. We fit four families with a couple of extra kids. Great double kitchen space and the two living areas were nice to divide the quiet half from the louder half. "

“ A beautiful old rambling farmhouse in VT, with great proximity to Okemo."

  Anne, Massachusettes, January 2018

“We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the farmhouse. There was plenty of room for people to spread out. I wish I had a big, beautiful dining room at home like the one in this house. We enjoyed watching people arrive to see who would run their hands through the bottle cap reservoir. We held a Harry Potter Themed Dinner Party on Saturday night and it was truly magical. I would definitely recommend this house to other large groups."

Sandy, Vermont,  November 2017

“The twelve of us came to Vermont for our 30th-year high school reunion, so we found the perfect house, this one. Peg and Matt's place is so big, we didn't use most of the house like the kitchen, and the adjoining living room was enough. Oh, except for the barn which was great. The crowd is already asking us to book it again next year."
Kathleen,  Florida, September 2017

"Peg is a super host, super communicateur and super friendly. The house is huge so that you can get some Space when needed! The charm is all in the décoration that just comes and reminds you of past times! It was great and memorable!!"

“It was a pleasure staying at Peg & Matthew's place. Couldn't have asked for a more quintessential ski house for the weekend. The fireplace was amazing, and the was more than enough space for our large group to sleep, eat, and hang out comfortably. Definitely recommended for large groups looking for a great ski getaway! "
Adam,  New Jersey, February 2019

Every single person with us this weekend made a point to tell me how much they loved the house and absolutely everything about it—from the location and the surrounding towns to the to two kitchens and shared bathrooms spaces (they strangely loved this!) to the creek behind the house and the unbelievable charm and history of everything. My dad told my sister that if she were to marry one day, he would love it if she did something similar in a similar place. The house really provided our big family weekend wedding with the perfect setting and encouraged the making of so many fun memories. The phrase on the upstairs bathroom wall became our motto for the weekend: “The best things in life aren’t things”.

Thank you so much for all your help leading up to this. We have truly had the time of our lives!"
Kaci, Alabama, October 2018

A great place, I highly recommend it!"
