The Lodge

The original barn of The 1828 House is now referred to as The Lodge.  Rustic and spacious, this living room was once a horse barn, converted into a skiing lodge over 50 years ago. A centrally located fireplace hearth, surrounded on three sides by comfortable couches, provides a warm and cozy atmosphere.

LodgeA lodge style kitchen with an antique farm table (seats 8-10) completes this open great room, as do large windows with mountainside views.  A flat screen TV, cable, DVD and stereo system as well as numerous board games and
an official poker playing table top are available.  A staircase leads to five upstairs bedrooms.

Various sleeping arrangements are available upstairs in the lodge. Three rooms have double beds with down comforters. Another room has two specially built handmade bunk beds, with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. Another room has two bunk beds suited for children. The rooms are the classic ski lodge type, small, but with dressers, hooks and mirrors.

There are two bathrooms with stall showers and toilets located upstairs. An open wash area with two sinks is located in the hallway, which enables one to brush their teeth when the bathrooms are in use. A very large official Okemo Mountain Ski Slope map hangs on the wall and was acquired from the ski resort when a new one was installed.  The hallway is painted white pine with a sky blue ceiling with white clouds, hand painted by local artists.

The Farmhouse

Built in 1828, the farmhouse is a post and beam brick house with hand hewn wide plank floors.  There are three bedrooms and two baths.  Entering the house through the front porch, one finds a country kitchen. A six burner gas Wolf stove, a round table and china armoire round out the kitchen. A large open pantry, stocked with dishes and kitchen amenities, also includes a full sized washer and dryer.  A side door opens to an outside patio area which is covered with a canvas awning in the summer..

DiningFrom the kitchen one enters the large dining room.  A five bay window overlooks the front yard and welcomes the morning light.  A specially hand made pine dining table -the legs of the dining table are pine tree trunks- and another round table provide seating for 20 people. Two large bookcases hold interesting and rare books. The tiffany style lamp over the dining table was specially designed for the dining area and made by a well known glass and lead artist in Manhattan.

The Farmhouse Living Room
Living room
From the dining room, one enters the living room where two couches and comfortable easy chairs sit upon wide planked pine floors.  Hues of blue soothe the soul while a wood-burning fireplace completes the inviting atmosphere. The coffee table is actually an antique chest from a local one room school house in the area and dates back over a hundred years.

Four large paned windows provide ample light and make this room the perfect place to relax and gather with friends.

On the ten acres of grounds there is an addition
Barn A barn, which for many summers housed the famous 1828 Antique Shop, sits next to the house. (The shop specialized in country English and French antiques, many of which are still in the Reunion House). The barn is now used to store firewood, snow toys & equipment and as a play area. A regulation sized Foos Ball table is waiting for you! The two story barn is an interesting place to explore the marvels of Vermont Post and Beam construction from 180 years ago!
