[ The Farmhouse - Bedrooms ]
|
|
|
Built in 1828,
the farmhouse is a post and beam double bricked wall house with wide pine
plank floors, 3 bedrooms and two baths. The attached barn was transformed
in the late 1960s into the Lodge - a separate 5 bedroom, 2 bath ski house.
The farmhouse and lodge can be rented separately or combined as a 4000
square foot +, 8 bedroom, four bath reunion retreat! |

The farmhouse is
entered through a front porch off the kitchen. The kitchen is a gourmet's
delight with a six burner gas Wolf stove and all the amenities. The kitchen
pantry includes a washer and dryer with plenty of space for stocking the
shelves with sundries. Off the pantry is the entrance to the spooky but
interesting granite stoned post and beamed basement (great place for
midnight adventure tours). |

Off the kitchen is a large dining room with a
five bay window overlooking the front yard. A hand hewn pine dining table
and a small round table near the window provide spacious seating for 20
people. Two large bookcases grace the walls with interesting and rare books |

The
Farmhouse Living Room |
The
1828 Farmhouse staircase leads upstairs to 2 bedrooms. |
|
Leading
from the dining room, one enters the newly redecorated (2003) living room. Leather couches and comfortable easy chairs sit upon wide
planked pine floors and oriental rugs. Hues of Wedgwood and royal blue
soothe the soul while a wood-burning fireplace completes the inviting
atmosphere. Four large paned
windows provide ample light and make this room the perfect place to relax or
gather with friends. |
|
|
On the grounds (10 acres in all) there is an
additional post and beam barn, which for many summers housed the famous
"1828 Antique Shop". This shop specialized in country English and
French antiques - some of which still adorn the farmhouse. The barn is now
used to store well seasoned oak firewood for winter rentals - or anybody
else fancying an indoor or outdoor fire (please use the fireplaces or fire
pit!). The two story barn may also double as a play house or interesting
place to explore and review the marvels of 100+ year old post and beam
construction."
